Windows Platform

Infrastructure Design

The Windows Platform has evolved many times since the 1980’s; Windows NT 3.1, NT 3.5 and NT 4.0. In 1999 Microsoft launched Windows 2000 Server that included Active Directory, which provided flexible directory services from the small business up to the large enterprises. Active Directory also provides other useful features; Organisation Unit and Group Policy.

Exlayer has been involved with Windows 2000 at its earliest stage, has studied the features very carefully and have been providing bespoke solutions to many customers. A typical scenario was a customer, with 500 staff, where we recommended a flat domain with administration units utilising Organisation Control against implementing sub domain trees. This resulted in a reduced number of domain controllers, and possible points of failure, and reduced administration and thereby a reduction in the Total Cost of Ownership.

Exlayer consultants have a wide range of technical knowledge surrounding the Windows platform. These include; Internet related technologies, routing, switching, firewall, cabling systems and applications. Because our proposed solutions are always designed from a very wide perspective we have been able to successfully complete a great many projects – without failure.
